What Is the Dark Web?

Picture
The dark web is encrypted online information and pages that is not indexed by mainstream search engines like Google or Bing. The dark web is also know as "The Deep Web",  the dark web is a part of the internet that describes the more illicit content that does not appear through regular internet browsing activities.

The Deep Web and How It Works

An online marketplace for illegal goods, the dark web has many innovations from legitimate online sellers like Amazon and eBay.

These features include customer reviews and seller ratings, but have been adopted to facilitate the sales of black market items, such as drugs and stolen goods and illegal services .
  • Drug-dealers,
  • Hackers
  • Prostitution
  • Hitmen
Other illegal operatives advertise their services in ways they could not over traditional channels. The dark web attracts users who seek anonymity when conducting business.

The Dark Web is not always a shady underworld of criminal activity. Intentions can be noble, such as with journalists seeking to interview citizens of repressive countries, where communications are monitored.

Upgrade a Cheap Computer to Gaming Computer!

It does not take much to have a gaming computer. Just have to know what games you want to play and see what they require to play them.
Many folks think a gaming computer has to cost 500 dollars or more.

This is simply not true!

The photo to the left shows a an HP Core 2 Quad workstation I bought for 35.00 and had eight gig of DDR3 memory installed.  I bought a 500 gig Western Digital 7200 off Ebay for $10.00 and a AMD Firepro V5900 2 gig Video card for 25.00 for total of $70.00.  This PC has a Windows Pro COA (License Key for Windows 7)  I just reloaded a clean install of Windows 7 I am done.  Getting a copy of Windows 10 will cost about 30 to 40 dollars.  Thats $110.00 dollars on a gaming PC

It plays WOW at med to high settings at 70 FPS
Starcraft 2 at high setting at 40 FPS
Fortnite at medium setting 720p at 50 FPS

With desktop computers you might have some flexibility to upgrade your computer to increase gaming performance. Some simple upgrades would be:
  • CPU - Some budget PCs will have a low processor to keep the cost down on the sale's floor.  Many time these processor can be replaced with a faster CPU that is capable of playing games. For example an Intel Celeron CPU wont play many games, but the i3 or i5 will handle games just fine.  Many times after a year or two the newer generation CPUs are released and the i5's and i3's will drop in price significantly.
  • RAM - System memory or RAM is vital for a fast PC.  More system ram you have installed will keep your PC from having to close apps or close pages and programs from crashing because you are running low on memory. 8 gig is the Minimum recommended for Windows 10
  • Video Card - Most budget PCs will only include on board video for their computers.  This is fine for basic office use and watching video online, but for gaming you really do need a dedicated video card to play the latest games.  A basic 2 gig Video card by Nvidia or AMD will increase performance significantly.  Just be aware that older video cards may not play newer released games.
  • Hard drive - The craze for Solid State Hard drives is in full effect! These drives load applications and Windows super fast and keep your system from lagging in some game play because you are able to load games faster. the prices on SSD's has fallen to wear you can get a 240 gig SSd for as little 25 bucks!

Using Offer up, Five Mile, and Craigslist are great for bargain hunters!  With the popularity of Youtube you can learn how to do just about anything!
There are lots of bargains to be had.  With computers the manufactures want you upgrade every 3 years. You can buy a fast PC for cheap and upgrade to a better video card.  No need to spend a huge amount of money!

Which CPU is Better? Intel or AMD

Intel vs AMD - The fight rages on!

To put this simply.  Both companies make high end CPUs, mid range CPUs and budget friendly CPUs.  This doesn't mean that the lower cost CPUs are bad.  They are slower or have less CPU cores and threads.

I like to compare computers and CPUs in terms of cars.
  1. The lower end CPUs are like driving a small Chevy or Honda passenger car.  These cars can be pretty fast and will do what you want them to do.  Good gas mileage and have lots of cool features, as well as costing about 15  to 20 thousand dollars.  The CPUs are the AMD dual cores Sempron and Athlon Series, A4 and A6 series. For Intel you have Celeron and Pentium line of CPUs  These CPUs are all under a under 100.00 to as low as 25.00
  2. The mid range CPUs are like your Ford Mustangs, Dodge Challengers, and Chevy Camaro. These are fast and have great performance and only cost about 20 to 40 thousand more a less.  Comparable CPUs would be Quad Core Athlons, A8 to A10 Series, FX-Series Quad and Six Core, CPU,  Intel's midrange CPUs would be Core i3 and i5 CPUs  These CPUs can cost about 75.00 to 250.00
  3. High End CPUs would be compared to performance cars, such as a Corvette, Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc. Super fast and great performance. Cost around 100 thousand to half a million.  These CPUs would be Core i7s and AMD 8 core CPUs, or the Ryzen CPUs.  These CPU can cost anywhere from 150.00 to 1000 dollars.
Intel makes the majority of the fastest CPUs, but AMD has a few CPUs that are just as fast or faster in some programs and applications.

So...The winner is?

To be honest with you, i like have always like the AMD CPU because they are extremely budget friendly for building gaming systems.
Intel might be faster, but most of time you will need another computer to test benchmark performance to actually see a difference in performance.

Lets go back to that car comparison.  buying the high end car is nice to have the ability to drive 220 miles per hour, However most of the time we will barely need go faster than 90 mile per hour in the Honda or Chevy.
